Strategic Recruitment Stream
1. Strategic Recruitment Stream – Compulsory and Optional Trades Category’

  • Hold a valid work permit
  • Have a valid trade certificate in a compulsory or optional trade in Alberta issued or recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT).
  • Residing in Alberta at the time of application
  •  Minimum of six months in the past two years working in your trade for an Alberta Employer or have previously worked in your trade with
    ​ an Alberta Employer
  • Meet the minimum language scores for working as a Parts Technician, working in a NOC C level occupation.
  • Estimated processing time: at least 14 months

2. Engineering Occupations Category

  •  Hold a valid work permit
  • Have Alberta work experience in an eligible engineering occupation.
  • Provide evidence of related education/training and experience as an engineer, designer or drafter.
  • At least two years currently working or have worked in Alberta either directly or on contract for an Alberta Employer.
  • Occupation in Alberta must be on the AINP Strategic Recruitment Stream Engineering Occupations List.
  • Estimated processing time: at least 14 months

3. Post-Graduate Worker Category (NOC 0 A B C)

  • Hold a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit
  • Currently have full time job in Alberta
  • Have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Alberta.
  • Meet minimum language requirements for NOC C
  • Estimated processing time: at least 14 months

Employer-Driven Stream

1. Skilled Worker Category (NOC 0 A B)

  • Hold a valid work permit
  • Have related education, training, previous work experience
  • Have a permanent and full-time job by an Alberta employer in an eligible skilled occupation.
  • Estimated processing time: at least 25 months

2. International Graduate Category (NOC 0 A B C)

  • Graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada
  • Have a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit
  • Have permanent and full-time job by an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation.
  • Employer support your AINP application
  • Meet minimum language requirements for NOC C
  • Estimated processing time: at least 25 months

3. Semi-Skilled Worker Category

  • Have a permanent and full-time job by an Alberta employer in an eligible semi-skilled occupation
  • Only select key industries and occupations are eligible in this category, and all candidates must meet minimum language standards.
  • high school education must be equivalent to Alberta standards.
  • Estimated processing time: at least 25 months

  • Industry: Manufacture, at least 25 months
  • Industry: Logistic, at least 25 months
  • Truck driver (NOC7511)
  • Industry: Restaurant, at least 19 months
  • Restaurant server (NOC6513), food counter clerk (NOC6711), cook (NOC6711)

Self-Employed Farmer Stream

  • Prove that you have farm management skills
  • Have sufficient financial resources to develop a sustainable farming operation.
  • Invest in a primary production farming business in Alberta.
